final animation

Well I finish the final animation and not knowing how to use Final cut I exported a quicktime file that turns out too big. Well next time I'll just remember to check the settings. Now I just have to put together the demo reel and the portfolio.
I am so hitting the movies once school gets out.

Zoo stuff and story

Well I don't know how well of a study we needed to do when it came to the zoo animals. Also the animals were not moving around so much and most we couldn't even see them. But I did the best I could, the best one was the tiger, since one was pacing and the other was just laying there in front of us lounging around. I would have done better drawing the miniature goats but they were so cute that I was petting them too much and not enough drawing.

This is of a sheep, the one that I thought was kinda odd looking for a lama. I had a brain fart OK! The one after is of the lama

More sheep. The next few are of the tiger.

This one was of the giraffe, it was nice when I got there I started to draw but then the giraffe walked off to the pen area where we can't see them. =(

This one was of the Cheetah and it was hard to see them because of the tall grass they were laying down behind.

This last one is of the Elephant.

As for the Story Idea I haven't really come up with anything yet. The only thing I could come up with is my variation on the 'Little Red Riding' story, but just the initial encounter with the wolf part. Still working out the designs, will post them up later.

11 sec final eh er seconds?

Nuts I couldn't make the deadline, I needed so much more. I tried throwing what I had into premiere but I still came out short and while I was editing the time ran out and I miss the dead line. I wasn't able to go to the lab and use the pencil test machine but I suspect there would be a bunch of others there trying to get it in. So I did the alternative since here at my lab there are digital cameras and a tripod. But after I shot all the frames, it seems I had to re size them in photoshop but lucky for me I discover that I can open the frames as a sequence and re-size the entire thing and exported as a quicktime. But when I put it in to premiere with the dialogue it seems the beginning was slightly off and the timing of somethings where off, but the ending was totally off and left huge gaps. I'll bring what i have on monday since for some reason the file is over 44mb and it won't fit on the UH server.

OH and I almost forgot to post the drawing:

OK I kept trying to see if I could bring the size down but in order to bring the file size down I had to sacrifice quality of the video.

11sec rough 1st past

OK this is a very rough 1st past at this and for some reason after effects would not let me edit it and listen to the audio at the same time so I had to do it in premiere and that was a bit trouble since it has been a long time since I used premiere. Anyways some of the drawings didn't come out so clear because the lines aren't as dark and also some I only drew the body and not the head. I hope it looks OK.

11 sec

OK here what I got so far for the 11 sec thing, I also figured out why my files was coming out so big, it wasn't the compression but the export. Turns out the default setting was on 'millions of colors' and that makes the file big 'cuz it preserves space for color that's not there so I switch to the gray scale 256 but that only bought it down to 19mb so I had to export another time and set it at 16 and that really brought it down to little over 7 mb. I wonder if I should make it 8bit gray scale. Anyways the funny thing while I was working on this I was trying to figure out how to draw the hat at the angle being shown and it took me a few minutes before I realize I was wear a hat at the time and could have used that to reference it. Big Duh!!

Here's the posting for the drawings.

Torture

OK I just went through all 143 entries and that was not fun after a while. I couldn't save any of them since you have to have quicktime pro in order to save them. Out of all the entries the was only 2 the I kinda like and I only remember only one of them. It was the one with the woman pushing the fork deeper into the neck of the dead husband.

I also uploaded my story for the 11 sec and the scans for the cutout characters.

The scene goes with two college kids in there apartment and they are trying to get rid of this roach. The one sprays it and the roach flips over dead or so they think when the roach flips back and starts walking away, then the other smacks it with a rolled up newspaper but when he lifts the paper up the roach just shakes it off and keeps on walking.

Box revised

I have revised my box animation but now its even bigger then before. The first one was over 21mb but now its over 73mb and UH only allows 20mb to students. =( So I cant upload it onto the UH server. OH also uploaded the composition....thingamabob....

Update:
I was able to re-size this and its now small enough to upload.

Box and scanned drawings

OK I got the drawings scanned and put together in photoshop. I also uploaded the box animation but it isn't working due to it being a bit too big for the UH server. I guess I have to bring it to class on a flash drive.

'Eh? What's this?'
'OOOooo...a cake...'
'hrmm...nobody's around'
'hehehe, yum'
'nice and easy now'
'AHA!....'
'Eh...what is that?'

Then again

Ok got a lot uploaded. The three expressions and the drawings. Oh and the quotes for the drawings are:
1. Oooo what's this I see.
2. He he he a delicious cake.
3. Wha? This ain't cake, it's it's....

2nd time around

Ok this time I just did it the old fashion, meaning I scan each one in and re sized and named it before putting it all together in premiere. It really is a pain to do, anyways I think it needs a bit more work here and there and some places I'm not quite sure about.

Animation Gesture

Ok I got my animation done and shot it with the pencil test machine but here is where the problem starts, I first had problem hooking up the lunch box with the computer but then I found a different fire wire cable that will hook it up but then I couldn't figure out how to put my animation onto the computer from the lunch box. Has anyone tried it out AND succeeded using the lunchbox?

Final Finally

OK I spent a lot of time working on this and even afterwards I know I need to do more with the it. But after spending 5 hours scanning it in another hour putting it together I come to find out I can't upload it to the UH server because the animation came out to over 70mb. It also runs a little fast and even though I stretched out the frames but it still runs fast. I'll turn it in during class tomorrow. Can't believe UH bleeds us dry on fees and can't gives us more then 20mb of server space.

Concepts and stuff

UPDATE: I change the proportions a bit and this is what I came up with.

Ok here are just a what I came up with.

Another maya walk

OK I have spent a lot of time tweaking this and have got most of it to where I want it except that right leg just don't seem to want to behave the way I want it.

UPDATE: OK I tweaked it a bit more and got it to move a bit more smoothly now.

UPDATE 2:I took it off the server.

Maya Walk

OK I finally got this done and using this rig was a bit difficult, since the arms and legs tend to stretch when you move them to certain points and also what's up with the arms, sad to say the maya default rig works better then this but I guess you learn to work with what is given to you. Just to make sure I also added a link to the file.
UPDATE: I have tweaked my walk a bit more and updated this blog, Although I think I could still be making adjustments for weeks to come....

Bouncy II and a stroll

I got done with this pretty early. I guess just some minor tweaking to the curves and well....

Removed to make room on server.

Ok I revised the ball again and I'm still not satisfied with it especially on the ascend after the first bounce.

Dirty Looks and Bouncy stuff

Wow what a task this was making the adjustments to this animation. On Tues day I don't know what I ate but I started to get a allergic reaction that took more then a day to become full blown, I busted out in hives. I was slightly itching in class on Wensday and later that night more and more of those tiny welts started to appear all over and by 8 at night there was so many that they merge into one big one one each of my arms, legs and back. Hrmm might make a interesting animation there. =P Anyways I took some meds but it doesn't work that fast and so today as I was working on this I'm still itching all over but not as bad as Wensday night. OK so I changed the last 3 frames by tilting the head back, it was a bit difficult to figure out how the features would look at that angle along with the mouth shape but I think it looks pretty good so far.

OK...not much to say really its a bouncing ball, although it was a bit hard gaging the movements since its technically bouncing in space if we ever rendered it.
Update: OK I took second look and made a revision (Thanx Brittany for the advice) It still not to the point to where I want it. I'm gonna keep working on it to get it there.

Dirty Looks II

Whew this one was a bit more complicated then just the the facial expression. Trying to animate this was a bit tough. I had to redraw several of the frames over several times due to something wasn't matching up or just didn't feel right. When it was all done I went to up load it but lo and behold I keep getting an error message and realize that I was out of disk space and so I had to delete one of my earlier animation in order to upload this one. Although I wonder if I should have added more to the end in order for the hair to show the bounce better....well at least I finished this a couple hours earlier then I usually would compared to the previous ones. >_<

Note: Animation deleted off of the server to make room.

Dirty looks

Ok here are my facial drawings, I didn't quite like the way the mouth came out. Didn't quite get what I wanted it to look like. Also it starts from the bottom. Hrmm...maybe I should have put a shirt on him also.....he looks odd topless....

Walking the walk II

OK it took a while to polish this off but I think I smooth it out a bit, not too sure. Anyways I'm not going to worry too much about the details and just put a little bit of hair on the guy. OH just to clarify I have no sense of style when it comes to hair on characters so this it the best I can think of...that and for some reason seeing a round head made me think of it. >_<

Well I have to delete the animation off of this one also to make room on the server for new ones. If you did not see it, you had you chance.

Walking the walk...

Ok so I got the walk going but heres the thing I'm still not sure what to make of the arms, so I did the best I could and the so the arm in the foreground looks stiff but the one in the back looks a bit more smoother. Also I'm this will be uploaded to the UH server and not blipTV. So hopefully it works.....oh also I looped the sequence just so people can watch it a bit longer. Note:I have to delete the animation due to low disk space on the uh server. 1 March 2008

Follow Through II

Well the tail part was a bit difficult to do especially at the squash of the ball and the height of the arches.

Video thumbnail. Click to play
Click To Play

I also try doing the head turn with the hair follow through. It was harder then I thought and I took 2 days to figure out and I still don't think I got it right completely.

Follow Through

Aww Nuts, I seem to have miscalculated on how much paper I had left in the large envelope that I was using to hold some of animation paper and while doing this I ran out. I was able to do the assignment but wasn't able to do more then that for now since I'm doing it at work and I do not have a scanner at home and net connection. Anyways here is what I got, I will put the version I planned for up later.

1st hand drawn animation!!

This was a lot more work then I thought but the outcome was worth it, although I wish I had not done it on an empty stomach. (>_<)

Ok this is the revise posting I hope this comes out a bit better then before. Oh also it might take it awhile to play depending on the computer that you are using. Seeing as the video data has to be transferred from the hosting site so please be patient.

OK these are what I did for the gestures on weight.

Animation Footage

Well originally I wanted to put up this animated short of a mouse and mousetrap with a twist ending but I couldn't remember who made and what the name of the short was and so I had to think of another one and came up with this:

Online Videos by Veoh.com

I really like the animation in this with its combination of 2d and 3d and that is what some of the Japanese animation studios are doing more and more nowadays. Oh if you can't see the whole thing heres a clip of the part I like the most.
